Nellai College of Engineering

Department of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering

Electrical and electronics engineering covers a wide range of general engineering principles and concepts. Electrical and Electronic engineers are involved in the analysis of existing systems such as electrical, electronics or computer systems and they are often involved in creating and designing new products and systems for manufacturing industries. Electrical engineers help the environment through improved energy efficiency, electric vehicles, electricity generation, transmission and distribution. Electrical and electronic engineers are replacing our aging and inefficient power distribution systems with a revolutionary new Smart Grid.

Electrical engineers design and develop electrical and electronic systems and devices such as communications equipment, integrated circuits, and computers. Many electrical engineers, calling on their imagination and creative talents, are involved in cutting edge research. Electrical engineering is the largest field within the engineering profession; approximately one-third of the world’s engineers are electrical engineers. The Electrical Engineers with high adaptability can be fostered by our tutorial system so that students shall be leading light in whatever areas they get a position after graduation.

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) was started in the year 2002. It offers Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 seats. The department offers Master degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering from the year 2010 with a sanctioned intake of 18 seats.

The department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff members to provide excellent education in theory and practicals. Faculty members are actively involved in research activities in various areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

State-of-art laboratory facilities are provided by the department namely, AC and DC machines, Electrical Circuits, Control Systems, Power Electronics, Power System Simulation, Microprocessors & Microcontroller and Measurements & Instrumentation. Simulation software (MATLAB, SCILAB) are provided to the students to excel in projects, paper presentations etc.

Along with the academic performance, students of our department excel very well in co-curricular activities like active participation in seminars, conferences, quiz competitions etc. Our students are also actively involved in extra-curricular activities like National Service Scheme (NSS), Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and Sports activities.

HOD’S Message

Greetings from the Head desk of the stronghold of NCE, the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Amidst the time of uncertainty and instability, the one field in engineering that ignites a spark for the new normal way of life is the department of EEE. Being a part of the industry, we at NCE would like to offer our share in it, by contributing our best by investing its core knowledge to our wards. The branch of study started in the year 2002 is one of the oldest departments in the college. The college offers Bachelor degree in the discipline. We believe in rigorous education and training in all fields pertaining to EEE. The department also paves way for students to hone their skills through active participation in competitions at various platforms. The department conducts various programs under the Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers such as Workshops, Technical Training, Symposium, Project-expo, Guest Lectures and Seminar by experts from Industry and Academic background for constant knowledge up-gradation of staff and students. We continue to pay great attention to individual discipline which leads us towards creating effective professional graduate community for the society. With the fair share of young and experienced faculty in varied specializations we work with commitment towards the welfare of the students. The achievements of the department would not have been possible without the enthusiastic and dedicated work of our past and present faculty members and  one among those adorns the chair of  Principal of the college, Dr. Jinnah Sheik Mohamed. As the head of the team, I wish we continue to provide outcome based quality education for the generations to come. I welcome you all to the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
